Sarah has been a successful professional organiser since 2011.
Decluttering people’s lives, organising homes, managing large-scale downsizing projects, she has done it all. But one thing has always bugged her. The photographs.
All those hours spent crawling through attics, pulling suitcases from under beds, moving dusty shoeboxes out of cupboards, time and time again it was the photographs that clients treasured most. They were often unsorted and no copies existed so if they were lost in the move, they’d be gone forever.
Sarah always felt these pictures should be shared with other family members, but none of her clients had any idea how to do that. It seemed daft to be handing them back, unsorted, to clients to put into their new loft for the next 20 years. But there seemed no method to organize photographs and old media.
All of this really hit Sarah when she returned from the UK to Australia for a brother’s funeral in 2019. As the youngest of 9 children, she had always presumed one of the siblings had organised all the family photos but it turns out they hadn’t. Her memories were scattered around the family too. That’s when Sarah found a way to help people manage their photos and made a new career out of organising, preserving and sharing memories.
Stuff is stuff, but memories are forever.
